Canskate is a Skate Canada program designed for beginners of all ages. When you sign up for Canskate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development.
* Skaters will earn badges and other incentives as they learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons consist of a complete series of balance, control and agility skills that will prepare skaters for any ice skating sport or recreational skating.
* Nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success will be used.
* The program is designed for 90% movement so skaters learn in an active and fun group setting.
Canskate lessons will be from 4:15 – 5:15 pm twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays). Part-time skaters will come on one of those days. However, on special days, which will be announced, everyone will come whether it is their scheduled day or not. Skaters are encouraged to come full time for their benefit.
Canskaters will be put into groups according to level of completion in the program. Skaters will move through the program at their own rate. Each Canskater will wear a name tag which will denote the group he/she is in. Your skater’s name tag can be picked up each skating day from the Canskate Coordinator or from the table in the lobby.
